  • Thooyamalli is an ancient white rice variety from Tamil Nadu, cherished for its striking resemblance to jasmine buds. Historically known for its natural resilience in the fields, this grain is a favourite among health-conscious families who prefer the taste of white rice but want the nutritional benefits of a traditional variety. It is aged to perfection, ensuring every grain is fluffy, non-sticky, and easy to digest.

    Cooking Instructions

    Thooyamalli cooks beautifully into separate, pearly grains:

    1. Rinse: Wash the rice gently 2 times to retain its natural nutrients.
    2. Soak: Soak for 20–30 minutes before cooking to ensure even expansion.
    3. Cook (Pressure Cooker): Use a 1:2.5 rice-to-water ratio. Cook for 3 whistles on a medium flame.
    4. Cook (Open Pot): Use a 1:3 ratio. Cook until the grains are tender but firm, then drain the excess water.
    5. Serve: Its mild, nutty flavour makes it the perfect companion for South Indian Sambar, Kara Kuzhambu, or simple Rasam.

    Storage & Shelf Life

    • Best Before: 6 Months from the date of packing.
